Step 5: Install Your Provisional Identity Certificate
Congratulations! Your public key was signed by the Certification
Authority, and so you now have authoritative attestation to your claim
of identity.
Now you'll need to install your provisional
identity certificate in your computer or your smart card, usb drive or
other device.
The certificate itself can be shared with anyone,
so it need not be in a particularly secure place. However, your
certificate is of little use without your control of its corresponding
private key, and so need to install your private key in a
secure place, protected by a strong password. Your computer's
operating system knows how to secure private keys.
